Did you know that in South Africa, approximately 1 in every 723 babies are born with a cleft lip and/or palate?

​

A child born with a cleft lip or cleft palate can have their forever smile when having surgery done. After years of experience, medical professionals agree that a cleft lip should be repaired roughly around 3-6 months of age, and a cleft palate repair should be done when a baby is between 5 and 12 months old.

​

Sadly, for many families, surgery may not be an option, due to various factors such as a lack of finances, medical aid, a medical facility, and other factors.

​

The Blissful Cleft Foundation would like to provide South African cleft patients from disadvantage backgrounds with surgical, emotional, and supportive care.
